Manage Noxious Weeds
Noxious weeds are tough to manage, let alone eradicate. They displace native plant populations, decrease wildlife habitat and have significant impacts on environmental and economic issues throughout the West. The resources below direct you to the people, organizations, and publications that can help you get your noxious weeds under control.
Montana Biological Weed Control Coordination Project (MTBCP)
The use of biological control is an environmentally friendly approach to weed suppression. This approach utilizes “friendly enemies” as “agents” to suppress weeds. These agents are friendly in that they are part of a healthy ecosystem, such as arthropods (insects and mites), plant pathogens (fungi, bacteria, viruses, and nematodes), fish, and birds. However, these agents are enemies to weeds in their destruction of them. Biological control also compliments natural practices we’ve been implementing for years: hand-weeding and burning, plant competition, and soil management practices
